Virgin River Season 7 Star Reveals Exciting News About the Netflix Series' Future

In Virgin River Season 6, fans will finally witness a long-awaited moment: Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson) are getting married!

The new episodes, dropping on Netflix on December 19, will revolve around their romantic spring wedding. But of course, the big day won’t be without its drama—expect twists, complicated love triangles, wedding-day chaos, and shocking revelations about Mel’s father’s past, which ties back to the town’s history in the 1970s.

Henderson shared with TV Insider in our digital cover story, “The wedding is the big event of the season—and really, the highlight of the year for the whole town. There’s so much buzz around it.”

Tim Matheson from Virgin River has shared some exciting news about Season 7, announcing that filming will kick off in March 2025. This comes even before fans get to watch Season 6 on Netflix.

The much-loved series, starring Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson, has been a fan favorite for the past five years. Recently, Netflix confirmed a seventh season, marking it as their longest-running drama and the top English-language series in terms of longevity. Fans can’t wait to see Mel Monroe and Jack Sheridan return on Thursday, December 19, after the huge success of last year’s special Christmas double episode.

The new season is expected to be released in late 2025 or early 2026, and Tim Matheson, who portrays Vernon ‘Doc’ Mullins, shared his deep appreciation for the show and the strong bonds between the cast and crew. “I really love the atmosphere of the show, and the cast and crew have truly become like family,” he remarked.

“It’s amazing that we’ve all come to see each other as family. Being a part of this show has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career, and I truly love it,” Matheson reflected.

In a recent conversation with Anna Daly, Matheson spoke about his memoir Damn Glad to Meet You: My Seven Decades in the Hollywood Trenches and why playing Doc Mullins means so much to him. “I enjoy portraying Doc because I’ve played many doctors, but this role stands out. I took time to learn about rural doctors and how they connect with their patients in small communities,” he shared, according to Express.

“It’s a completely different kind of relationship with the people you help,” Matheson noted.

He added, “You run into them all the time—on the street, at the local bar. It’s a more personal, hands-on way of practicing medicine.”

Matheson went on to say, “This is the story of a man who left the fast-paced city life to focus on one-on-one care, and I really love that aspect of it.”

Fans on Netflix are excited for the thrilling twists coming in Virgin River Season 6, with Mel and Jack’s highly anticipated wedding taking center stage. Meanwhile, Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale) is showing signs of being several months pregnant, Dan Brady (Ben Hollingsworth) is caught up in some shady situations, and the relationship between Preacher (Colin Lawrence) and Kaia (Kandyse McClure) is growing stronger.
